Workshop on Performance Management Instrument in Agriculture

PREMISE: Management of peoples' performance in agriculture can be effective if based on relevant and reliable criteria. This is substantiated by Peter Drucker who stated that performance of workers should be based on the job content (80%) and on job context (20%). The approach becomes necessary because the past approach to assessing workers' performance have focused more on their attributes (job context) rather than on the critical success factors derived from their job content.

OBJECTIVES: This workshop is, therefore, designed to equip managers of agricultural projects with the appropriate knowledge and skills required to manage people for results, paying special attention to the critical success factors in agriculture. At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • explain the concept of performance management;
  • set target and define appropriate performance standards for agricultural sub-sectors;
