Basic Computer Training for Senior / Middle Officers and Managers
(With Internet)
PREMISE: Improved management practice places a strong demand on modern organizations struggling to cope with challenges of changing environment. Experience has shown that middle/senior officers in most organizations have low level awareness and appreciation of the usefulness of computers in solving their day-to-day management problems. To meet this demand, managers must take advantage of the micro-computer as a versatile tool for efficient and effective information management and decision making.

OBJECTIVES:
This course, therefore, seeks to introduce senior/middle level managers to the use of the micro-computer as an essential tool for effective decision-making. At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
  • describe the role of the micro-computer in management;
  • operate and use the micro-computer for data processing
  • discuss the rudiments of data processing;
  • identify and discuss the components of a typical micro-computer system; and
  • discuss the of Internet.

  • Computer aids to Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • Introduction to computers.
  • MS-Windows XP.
  • The use of Internet and Internet Explorer.
  • Introduction to software Packages:
    1. MS-Excel 2003.
    2. MS-Word 2003.
    3. Ms-Access 2003.
TRAINING METHODS: Lecturettes, demonstration, hands-on practical exercises and group discussions.
